Silver Hammer 2009

January 6, 2010

House Stentor had a get together at Master Alexander’s. He was a great host. We had a lot of fun. Beth and I had a great time.

It was another rainy event. That was fine cause we had fun anyway. Faelen came in secone in the heavy tourney. I got to herald the rapier tourneyment. It was a lot of fun. They have great fighters in Thor’s Mountain. Their Majesties were not able to make it, but their Highnesses were there. Beth got a phone call about an ill friend so we had to head out. She did get a new veil and Turret. We need to get a good pic of it.

Magna Faire

January 6, 2010

My mom came with Beth and I this time. It was her first event. She has been to a lot of shire stuff, but she finally had a Saturday off. It was not as rainy as the previous events. It was snowing on our way to Alabama – you read that correctly. It was a lot of fun. I got to herald the Heavy Tourney. Sadly, Falaen got hurt. He was doing very well too. Count Caspar won the day against Sir Ulrich. Good figthing on the day. I was not able to get to watch the rapier this time. I got to herald court for the Baron and Baroness of Iron Mountain. The Baron and Baroness (Killian&Katherine or Dean/Tracey) are a sweet couple. They are good leaders and very nice people. That was fun. I have assisted court before, but this was my first time to be the lead herald (though it was a court in the middle of a court). It was a lot of fun. This was the last event of the year 2009.

Crown Fall List 2009

January 6, 2010

Beth and I drove down to Tuscaloosa, AL with Tobias for Crown List. Again, I was able to herald Kynwric and Jocosa at the list. I got a fair amount of heralding time for the event. Sir Thomas won the tourney and was proclaimed our new Prince. This is the first heir that I knew before they were royal. Pretty cool. I know they are going to have a great reign.

Falean did real well and I was rooting for him since he is a shire brother and his consort is my household sister. Conor was not there, otherwise all of House Stentor would have been there. It rained real hard and we stayed off campus. Thankfully, they had a gym so the tourney was not hindered.

Court was great. Beth received her AOA. She is now Lady Elisabeth von Ravensburg. I am very proud of her.

This was our first time to go to MGT. He have heard about the Grand Tourney and have wanted to go all year. Being a voice herald, it was a great experience. We were worried about the weather.  It had been raining for the whole week. We got there Friday night help set up tents. We got to help set up Khalil’s tent. It was fun and we wanted to see how it was made. Finna Haidfansdottir made the day shade. She does lovely work. She made Sir Ulrich’s shade and many of his tunics. You can check her out at http://finnaland.googlepages.com/ . We got there early and helped Emma and Liam set up their panther pavillion, it is a sweet set up. Green and Blue. We were styling. Once Master Alexander got there, things got busy very quickly for the heralds. Baroness Bianca the Inquisitive ran the lists. On the field were Master Alexander, William of Hawkmore, Óengus mac GillaDubain as well as my shire sister Keina de Fierens in her field herald debut. Sir Thomas ran a great set of tourney’s.

The Armatura tourney was hosted by the Legion of the Bear and was won by Duke Godwine. The Sabre Tournament was hosted by the Ladies of the Rose and was won by Sir Mordan. The Chalice Tourney which was hosted by the Order of the Chalice was won by Duke Ailgheanan. The Order of the Bough hosted the Great Weapon Tourney and won by THL James de Lyon. The Sable Sword put on the William Marshal Tourneywhere Sir Kenneth Grey was victorious. Finally, the Grand Tournament (hosted by the Order of the Chivalry) was won by Duke Ailgheanan.

The rain kept away just long enough for the tourneys and for most of us to take down our tents. It poured down just before court. Everyone was in such high spirits that it did not matter. Master Alexander heralded court with the assistance of myself, William of Hawkmoore and Oengus. Lorenzo Petrucci was elevated to the Order of the Laurel. I got to read Baroness Bianca’s Argent Comet and William Hawkmoore’s AoA. Keina also got her AoA. That is one AoA per month for Vulpine Reach, we are on a roll baby. King Boru and Queen Deirdre were a joy at court. I look forward to seeing tham and many others at Fall Crown List.

Send in the Bears

Send in the Bears

We are exhausted from Foxes, but Beth and I had a great time. I do not know where to begin. What a weekend.

Friday night, some dear friends of ours, Jamie (Lucian) and Bridget got married. I got to do the wedding ceremony. It was a medieval/templar wedding.  It was very cool. We were glad to be a part of that service. Congrats.

Saturday was the big day for the Tourney. Just before, I receieved some news that floored Beth and I. We have been invited to join House Stentor. That was a huge honor. We are no longer homeless in SCA.

The tourney was breathtaking. We had a huge turnout. I had two of my brothers in town. That was very cool. I had family and my boss and his wife under my pavilion. The fighting was increadible. The best event I have ever been to. Just when I thought it would not get any better, I found out I was helping Master Alexander herald court. It was a lot of fun. I got to herald in Tobias and Saraqan, two shire mates (Tobias is my house brother too).

The feast was fantastic. The people of Loch Cairn did an amazing job. I loved it.

RUM 2009

July 19, 2009

I had an amazing time at RUM. Beth and I drove down with Tobias and Cynwise. It was a fun trip where we were driving Cynwise absolutely crazy with our singing. I took a lot of heraldry classes (no surprise) but I also took classes on Leather and Tunic embellishing. But mostly, I was with my kindred heralds. Master Alexander did a class on the pagentry of the tournement. A great class from a guy who knows a little about heraldry. Konr MacAlpin did a leather class and I worked on a badge with my combs insignia on it. Sweet. Beth and I took a break and hung around withe Seamus and Genvieve and few others next. Jocosa and Kynwric served up a great lunch of raviolis. Ate with Ragnhildr and her friend Donna. We had a good representation from our Shire. Court was kind of fun too. I was called up to court for the first time to receive my AWARD of ARMS!!!!! I am so pumped. I might sleep with my circlet. Pretty nifty. Sir Thomas heralded me in court, which was pretty neat considering how many times I heralded him this past year. We went out to eat afterwards (over 20 in the group – mostly heralds). I wore my circlet. We went to see Harry Potter, wore the circlet, which phazed no one.

June 13, 2009

We headed to Marietta for a regional fighter practice hosted by Owl’s Nest. I armored up as the only Heavy fighter from Vulpine Reach. We had a good turn out for our rapier fighters. It was good fun, but the shield was damaged.I learned a lot that day. We went to eat at a thai place in town that Ursus knew.

Boars and Bruises

July 15, 2009

May 29-31

Faelan asked us a few weeks earlier to come to Boars and Bruises so we decided to go to Greenville. It was not too far away. We tented the whole weekend. It was a smaller event and a LOT of fun. I brought the armor and I planned to do pick ups after I heralded the tourney. They encouraged me to fight, I was the 7th fighter so it made the tourney more interested. Hey I did not get past the first round, but I did make it to the top ten. Then we did a bridge fight with spears and I won the first fight, but lost in the second. It was a blast. Then I got to herald the rapier tourneys. It was very laid back and it was a great feat, but it was  a hot event. It was the second time for Beth and I to use the new tent. I got too ancy getting it undone and I ripped the strap for the stake. Yikes. We did go to Bass Pro shops and bought new stakes. We got to know the people of Nant-Y-Derwydd and e had a blast. Good folks. We invaded Greenville for breakfast.

Meridian War Muster

July 15, 2009

May 15-16 2009

A great day for the Meridian navy. It rained, and it rained and it rained. Oh, we had fun. Beth and I headed out anyway. So did John Ailbhe. We tented next to each other. It was nice getting to know memebers of the Loch Cairn group a little better. No real use for a herald on the field, but I did some site heraldry. I brought my armor and John and I were authorized by Sir Stuart MacDonald. Then we participated in the War Muster. We had a low turn out due to the weather, but we had enough for some good melee practice. The rain started to come down even harder and we finally had to give in and head home. We packed the tent (the first time to use the new tent) in the pouring rain. Still a good time. Sorry we missed feast, but the storm was going to get worse.

May Tourney

July 15, 2009

May 9th, 2009

Another day trip, this one was north of Knoxville. We had a good size group from Vulpine Reach. Tobias, John Alibhe and me had our pavilions in a little Vulpine Reach row. Great Tourney. They had a great idea called the Iron Viking, they kept points for fighters who competed in Rapier, Heavy and Archery. Cool idea. Tobias approached the Barroness to emply the barony to fight with Vulpine Reach at Foxes. Faelan Haroldson invited me to go to Boars and Bruises and we got a chance to chat with him for a bit.
